My Journey from Fat to Gym Rat

Chapter 2

September 2013 - September 2015

After dropping the body fat down to around the 15-20% mark I decided to increase my muscle mass a little more for a while. So I done a more relaxed style of ‘bulking’ and overall I gained 6/7kg of body weight over the length of around 11 months. During these 11 months I had a few up and down's where my weight was concerned due to the more relaxed approach I had taken. However the weight that I had gained overall was mostly muscle as I would have 1 week of cutting back nutrition wise if I found myself adding too much weight too quickly. Looking back, I realize it wasn’t the best of things I could have done and decided to just do a more conventional bulk up and not worry too much about the inevitable fat increase that was about to happen.

February 2015 came and by this point I had increased my weight to around 95kg/209lb, a gain of 14kg over 7 months. A much more successful bulk, however I was still unsatisfied with the rate of which I gained body fat, so this is where my most recent leaning up phase came into play.

Over a period of the last 5 months I set myself a healthy target of which to drop body fat as slow as humanly possible to retain the hard earned muscle mass I had gained over the couple of years of hit and miss bulking and cutting. Slowly but surely I stripped my body of 15kg/34lb weight, from looking at the two images above I think it’s fairly safe to say the hard, grueling work has paid off.
